Mobile Pet Euthanasia Services
Preparing for the appointment:
The procedure can take place wherever you and your pet feel most comfortable. There is nothing you need to do to prepare for the visit as I will have everything we need. On the day of the appointment you can treat it as any other day and give food and medications as you normally would. Many people are tempted to feed many treats and spoil a pet in the days leading up to euthanasia. This is wonderful in moderation. You want to be careful to avoid upsetting your pet’s stomach and making them uncomfortable.

During the appointment:
We will take as much time as you need during this process. There is a small amount of paperwork to take care of and typically payment is settled before we begin. This is a good time for your pet to get used to a new person in the home and allows us to then focus entirely on them. Once everyone is ready to begin I will start with a sedative injection given under the skin in the back of the neck. This will put your pet into a very deep, peaceful sleep. This usually takes several minutes, during which time I will step out of the room.
Once I have determined that your pet is fully asleep and unaware of his/her surroundings I will administer a second, final injection that will help your pet pass quickly and without pain. From their point of view, they will only remember falling to sleep in your presence and in familiar surroundings. Following the final injection I will listen to their heart with a stethoscope to confirm they have passed. I will then step out of the room again to allow you privacy. If desired I will make an impression of your pet’s paw in clay for a keepsake.
Aftercare:
If you elect to keep your pet for burial or have made other arrangements, I will excuse myself from your home when we are done. If I am arranging for your pet’s cremation I will take him or her with me once the procedure is done and everyone is ready. Your pet will be gently placed in a blanket and transported to my vehicle. For pets weighing over 40 pounds I ask that someone in the home assist me. I understand that this is a very sensitive time and some people are uncomfortable assisting with this process. Please let me know prior to my arrival if you do not wish to assist and we can discuss making arrangements for transport.
